...at least for now.  This is my first coverage of 2012, and it's time to come roaring back from the doldrums that hit me in late 2011.  I took most of the fall off, so I'm a bit rusty, but I tended to have decent luck with my pharma picks, so I'm kicking off this new year with a company whose sole drug (as of now), Soliris, is used to treat atypical hemolytic-uremic syndrome -- a disease that causes high blood pressure and kidney failure, particularly in children.

Germany has seen a major spike in HUS cases over the past several months and Soliris is the only drug currently approved to treat this illness.  Alexion has seen steady growth during that timeframe and should continue to soar into the new year.
