Everyone knows about the debit card fees proposed by Bank of America and others. Hell, it might have been the straw that broke the camel's back with all these #occupy protests. Many people believe it was basically just the banks making good on a threat that conservative lawmakers made on their behalf back when considering the bill to reduce merchant fees for debit card transactions.
It was a stupid move, and its recent recanting has validated this notion. However, I think the djini is out of the bottle and neither BAC nor any other bank can put it back in. I know so many people who have emptied their commercial bank accounts and moved to credit unions, that it is going to have to hurt their bottom line. What's even scarier is how many people I don't know at all, except that I've heard or read about them doing this. The front page news today had a pic of a BAC debit card being burned.... burn.
