This showed up on a screener I rigged up today. The criteria were: market cap under $250M, outperformed the S&P at least 10% YTD, and EPS growth last quarter > 30%. Oh and P/E over 0 meaning profitable.
This name stuck out on the list because everything else as the others were mostly obscure, stuff like Steinway Musical Instruments and SeaChange and Dynatronics (didn't they make the Terminator robot that Sarah Connor almost destroyed?) so I looked into this Joe's Jeans company.
As a straight man of no ample financial means, I had never heard of them. It turns out they offer a number of $150+ options for the style-conscious denim-addicted cohort:
"The Socialite is the classic fit, designed to perfectly contour the hips and provide a slight boot cut leg. This style offers you a sexy silhouette that is perfect for any occasion. The Honey jean is their booty fit style, designed to emphasize a women's curves. The Rocker is a skinny jean with a sexy flare, optimal for a glamorous look. And if you don't have model long legs, then The Provocateur may be perfect for you with a shorter inseam and a higher knee break to elongate the leg and give you the perfect petite fit."
Celebs who wanna look good like Natalie Portman, Hilary Duff, Lauren Conrad, Halle Berry, Rachel Bilson ('Summer' from the OC in case that was lost on you) wear them. That is to be expected.
If you take a look at their stock chart, they're up 57% just year-to-date (it's only March). So it would seem that this stock is just starting to get noticed in earnest.
With a small market cap and a low price tag, there won't be much institutional ownership driving this one, and so it might just be obscure enough we can make a nice score here.
