Still nobody using Nokia phones

If you believed my first short coverage of Nokia then you'll really love this one. The stock is nearly $1 higher than when I somewhat correctly shorted it before, and what has changed? Naaathing! Unfortunately I wasn't able to cash in, with a bit of an options blunder and bad timing on the expiration date, but the coverage was at least partially right, and this thing is even more ripe for more dark days.

Looking for an iPhone 4 alternative? Well I've talked quite a bit about the Droid X in my wildly popular and famously correct prediction that was long on $ARMH and I ended up getting a Droid 2 myself. A couple friends got a Galaxy S (Epic/Captivate/Vibrant/Fascinate, depending on carrier) and the nascent release and NFL marketing of Fascinate is sure to send Samsung's and VZW's sales soaring. $RIMM is still a dud if you ask me, but unlike Nokia, at least they were given a pity nod in this yahoo front page video about iPhone4 alternatives. Props to them for including clips of the "I don't care" video.

Nokia breaks 10 again during this coverage? Idon'tcare. It's still garbage.

There is an article on the Nokia answer to the iPhone in the WSJ from last week. I've been meaning to read it - when I finally do, I'll put anything relevant here. But the thing that I noticed was that the price of the phone was a bit high - and while it is unlocked, it seems that the US market cares less about that.

I did at least catch that they didn't have deals in place with carriers even though launch is soon.

WSJ reports "In another setback for Nokia Corp., the Finnish mobile-phone giant has canceled the U.S. release of a smartphone that was slated to launch exclusively this year with AT&T Inc., people familiar with the situation said."
