...the more you eat, the more you...NO, NO, NO...not that old playground blather! Forget legume-induced flatulence...we're talking *coffee* beans here.
The latest volley in the neverending debate over whether or not the benefits of drinking coffee outweigh the risks comes from one Melinda Beck [http://www.salon.com/food/coffee_and_tea/index.html?story=/food/feature/2009/12/29/coffee_benefits_dangers] who points out that recent studies have shown that coffee does not lead to heart disease and cancer and that it may, in fact, offer several health benefits, including the following:
Lowers risk of colon, mouth, throat, prostate cancers, among others
Moderate drinking lowers risk of Alzheimers
1 cup per day lowers the risk of Type 2 diabetes
2 cups per day lowers the risk of committing suicide
3 cups per day cuts risk of gallstones
Dubious...how in hell they arrived at the last two conclusions is beyond me. I'm not taking any chances, though. I'm drinking NINE cups a day from here on out...maybe I'll grow wings! In all seriousness...great brand, immensely popular, addictive product, expensive (see picture), and they're utterly ubiquitous. I predict there will be one in my living room by the end of next year.
